Welcome to NUTs SMARTBoard Training

This is the first time the NUTS SMARTBoard programme has been delivered at the college. It is an exciting opportunity for practising teachers and lecturers to learn new skills, share best practice and create innovative resources that add value to the learner experience. This blog will be used to evaluate the delivery of the programme, but more importantly, will be used by delegates to upload the fruits of their labour.

If you have any suggestions on how the site may be improved, don’t hesitate to ask. I will try to upload as many resources as possibly, including multi-media files, YouTube videos, screencasts, Prezi's and of course, delegates work.

Thoughts on the session...

I am interested to know whether delivering a micro-teach to show off the Smartboard is an effective means to communicate with the group. I thought that through a practical demonstration you could see how things work from the learner’s perspective. Hopefully your skills are sufficiently honed to enable you to produce materials for your own learners, so start having a go!

As always, thanks for an enjoyable session!

Week 4 skills test...

This week's skills test requires you to create an animated PowerPoint file and then link it your notebook. In addition you must be able to demonstarte how to create hyperlinks to interesting websites. Ive created a couple of screen capture to help you. As before, you are free to use the hard copy of the notes.

Good luck...

Evaluation of week (3)

Well, the proof of the pudding is in the eating...this shows that through careful reflection, practitioners can adapt their delivery models to better suit the needs of their audience. Thanks for your constructive comments. See you next week

"I enjoyed this step by step approach to a task using and practising the various tools, which was right for my level of knowledge / learning - really useful. Felt I achieved something!"
"I felt I had more time to work at my own speed and achieve all of the set tasks. I also received help when required, which was very important for me."
"I enjoyed the lesson and am growing more confident as witnessed by the fact I was prepared to have a go following the Tasks on the sheets/notebook. Thank you, looking forward to the next session."

SMARTBoard Exercise for Week (3)

I captured this exercise using Screenr. It needs to be less than 5 minutes so you're slightly constrained. Please use the video in conjunction with the handout for week 3. If you get stuck, just rewind the video and watch it again.

If you are feeling brave, sign up to a www.Screenr.com account and publish your own work. When your done, send me the MP4 file and i'll upload it to the SMARTNuts blog...

We can then vote on which one is the best...!

Happy blogging
